When is the application deadline?
For entry in Fall 2022, the Priority application deadline is January 15, 2022. However, the final application deadline is April 1, 2022.
International (non-U.S.) students are strongly encouraged to apply by January 15, 2022 or even earlier, because of the additional time required to arrange for immigration papers for admitted students. For international students who apply after January 15, 2022 we will try to evaluate applications in a timely way but cannot guarantee that we can complete reviews quickly enough to make admission offers by May 15.
How much is the application fee?
A $90.00 non-refundable fee is payable by credit card at the time of application submission. Applications submitted before January 15, 2022 will receive a waived application fee.
Where do I mail application materials?
Please note that the only documents that need to be mailed are official transcripts which are required only after offer of admission. Official transcripts can also be sent electronically following the instructions on Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Admitted Students page. Applicants should upload unofficial transcripts to the online application for review.
How many recommendations are required?
Applicants are required to submit two recommendation letters. Ideally, this should include at least one academic reference and one professional reference. All recommendations will need to be submitted through the online application portal, which will automatically email your recommender with instructions for online submission of their letter, allow applicants to track recommendations received and follow up with recommenders who still need to submit their letter. Once submitted, recommendation letters will be included in the online application.
What if my references can’t access the online portal?
In the event your reference can’t access the online recommendation, please contact the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences through email at gradmail@georgetown.edu or by calling 202-687-5568.
How do I know if my application is complete?
After you submit your application, you will receive an email confirmation from the Graduate School. Through the same portal you submitted your application, you can sign into your account to access an electronic checklist detailing what application items have or have not been received. Your checklist is posted the day after you submit your application and application items are logged as soon as they are processed. During the Graduate School’s high volume application season (December through March), please allow up to two weeks for your application items to be updated. Online recommendations are automatically updated to a status of “received” when submitted by the recommender.

Is there a part-time program?
Yes. We offer part-time enrollment for accepted Aging & Health students.
What tests do I need to take?
While not required, applicants may submit standardized test scores (e.g., GRE, MCAT, LSAT,) if available as part of their application materials.
All applicants are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Proficiency can be demonstrated by the receipt of a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction (please note that applicants receiving degrees at universities in U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, are required to submit the TOEFL or IELTS unless the primary language of instruction at the institution is English). All other applicants must achieve at least a minimum score on either the TOEFL or IELTS test. Test scores must be received by the application deadline date. Applicants should allow six to eight weeks from the test date for the reporting of scores to the institution. Applications will not be considered without TOEFL/IELTS scores.
Applicants with degrees from universities outside of the United States must submit documentation from the institution stating that English is the primary language of instruction as part of their application materials.

What scholarships are available?
All Aging & Health program students will be considered for financial assistance in the form of merit-based tuition scholarships.
In addition to merit-based scholarships, there are several other sources of financial assistance for which some students may be eligible.

Is there a language proficiency requirement?
The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences requires that all applicants demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Please note that citizenship alone does not determine English language proficiency. Applicants can demonstrate proficiency by: the receipt of a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the language of instruction for the entire institution; submission of an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report with a minimum score of approximately 600 (paper-based test) or approximately 80 (internet test); or submission of an official International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Academic Module score report with a minimum score of 7.0.
The TOEFL and IELTS must be received directly from the appropriate testing organization. Photocopied/faxed documents will not fulfill this requirement. All TOEFL and/or IELTS examinations must be taken no later than one month prior to the application deadline for the program.

How do I secure a student visa for study in the United States? What should I do if I have a visa already?
Information on applying for a visa will be sent to you after you have been admitted to your desired program. The Office of Global Services (OGS) assists with the student visa process.
Within one week of submitting your enrollment deposit, you will receive an email invitation to activate your International Student Portal account, via which you will request a Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 or J-1 status (Form I-20 or Form DS-2019). This GU immigration document will serve as the basis for your visa application at a U.S. embassy or consulate. We recommend completing this process as early as possible.
International students who already hold another status valid for full-time study have no OGS reporting requirements.
